Remuneration: Chair £4,000 pa and Members £2,500 pa
Maidstone, Kent
The role of the Police and Crime Commissioner in Kent is to set out his ambitions for policing and community safety in the region. Working closely with the Kent Police, to help make those ambitions a reality, there is a Joint Audit Committee in place, which comprises a Chair and four Members.
These are time limited appointments of four years, with the possibility of a further four years. As a result, we are now seeking a new Chair and two new Members to join the Committee.
To succeed, you will need an understanding of the audit function, although a recognised Accountancy qualification is not essential. What is important is an understanding of, and demonstrable commitment to, the Nolan Principles; experience of operating at a senior level in a complex organisation with a variety of stakeholder interests; the ability to work successfully as part of a team; to analyse complex data and from this highlight strategic issues to enhance the corporate governance environment; and, a willingness to give the time commitment (including reading, preparation time and ad hoc meetings).
If you are considering applying as Chair, in addition to the above, you must also have had previous experience of chairing a committee, or equivalent; demonstrable professional authority; and the ability to build consensus
Applications from under-represented groups are particularly welcome. Although desirable, the organisation is also therefore open to applications for Member for whom this would be a first committee appointment. This is because the organisation is open to fresh thinking and does not wish to restrict itself as a result.
